How to Create and Optimize LinkedIn Carousels

Whether you share “How-To” articles, checklists, a revamped blog, infographics, or job postings, LinkedIn carousels are one of the most effective pathways to organic reach. They’re also easy to create and provide a compelling way to demonstrate your thought leadership and expertise.

After years of hacking the platform to make these post types with PDF documents, LinkedIn finally launched its own native carousel feature in 2022. Sadly, it’s since been removed less than a year later, with the algorithm apparently deeming them to be low-value content.

Unlocking Engagement: How to Create Stunning LinkedIn Carousels

A well-formatted carousel will have a strong visual design that stops users from scrolling right past it. This means incorporating visually-striking images or graphics to grab attention, as well as creating short, concise text that piques curiosity and encourages people to swipe through the post.

Keep in mind that people scan text content in an F-shaped pattern, so your first few lines of text will receive more fixation than the rest of the slide. That’s why it’s a good idea to add your logo or profile image to the first slide of your carousel and include eye-catching headlines to keep people’s attention.

To create a linkedin carousel, log into your account and click the “Start a post” button at the top of your feed. Select the document icon (which looks like a page with three lines). Once you’ve selected your file, give it a descriptive title and talk about it in the caption where you can add hashtags and mentions. When you’re happy with the post, simply click “Post.”
